All regions of France are beautiful, but today we have chosen to put the spotlight on the natural wonders of the Occitan region. Come on, let’s get you on board!

The Padirac abyss, a must-see destination in the Lot department

It is not far from Rocamadour, on the Causse du Quercy, that the Padirac abyss is located. This incredible cave has been classified as the 1st underground site in France. It’s not really a Bobee spot because it’s very well known, but on the other hand, we can hardly make it more unusual! This breathtaking natural wonder promises you an immersion at 75 meters below the surface of the Earth. The 35-meter wide cavity welcomes in its bottom the Padirac river. Stalactites, lake, emerald-colored water, you will come out of this experience with sparkles in your eyes.

The Bramabiau abyss, an exceptional natural site in the Cévennes National Park

In the heart of the Cévennes, the Bramabiau abyss is a site located between the gorges of the Tarn and Mount Aigoual. This natural wonder of the Occitan region is located in the village of Saint-Sauveur Camprieu. Bramabiau means “Bullock’s bellow” in Occitan because it is the noise made by the Bonheur river when it comes out of this cavity. This magnificent creation of nature is open to the public thanks to an arranged circuit. If you lack ideas during your family vacation in Occitania, don’t hesitate and go and see the Bramabiau abyss. Between the departments of Gard and Hérault, lies one of the largest canyons in Europe. The inhabitants of the Cevennes nickname the Navacelles Cirque “The oyster” because of its shape similar to that of the mollusk. This wonder of nature is registered since 2011 by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. It also holds the label “Grand Site de France” since 2017, whose purpose is obviously its preservation and enhancement. This is what we like at Bobee Spot, taking care of the most beautiful natural sites, discovering them while ensuring their protection. This incredible work that the Earth has produced for several hundred thousand years is a must in the Occitan region.

The Clamouse Cave, a splendid speleology trip in the Hérault region

Guardian of its secrets for millions of years, the Clamouse Cave was only discovered in 1945. A true natural wonder of the Occitan region, it is located in the Hérault, in Saint Jean de Fos. It owes its fame to the number of its aragonite concretions, as well as to the beauty of the river which crosses it in several rooms. The cave is illuminated by LEDs in an environmentally friendly way, which adds a bit of magic to this mystical place. It is an incredible caving spot to be discovered by young and old alike! Nature creates extraordinary things that you have to see at least once in your life, and this natural site is definitely one of them.
