How to bivouac in your living room? | A manual

This time of lockdown is the moment to take matters into your own hands and bring some craziness into your home. Ok, you’re only going out to work or do your shopping, but who’s going to stop you from camping in your own apartment? Nature, the noise of animals, the tent, the marshmallows … When you can’t go where you want, you might as well bring what you want at home! It’s settled, this weekend you are going to camp in your living room! Bobee Spot shows you how to do it right away.

Setting up the bivouac for a perfect evening

Disclaimer: what we offer you is both to imagine yourself in the middle of nature, but also to go back to childhood! Do you remember those pillow shacks that we’ve all done more or less successfully? It’s the spirit of this evening that awaits you. But believe us, you will enjoy yourself so much that you will do it again very often!

So, to start, you have to choose the most suitable room in your house or apartment. Obviously, if you have a garden or a terrace, in addition to being lucky, you’ll be able to recreate a natural atmosphere more easily. Once the location of the camp is found, you’ll have to dig up your famous tent that unfolds in 3 seconds but which you have never managed to fold properly from your cellar or attic… Yes, we’ve all been there, no shame in that! If you are more of the pro bivouac type and you have the tent that goes with it, we don’t have to tell you not to put pegs … Normally, the wind shouldn’t be much strong in your living room.

Then, you need a mattress (preferably inflatable to really get in the mood), a sleeping bag, and a pillow because this is a 4-star bivouac. Know that if you don’t have a tent to bivouac in your living room, you will certainly have four chairs and a sheet to make a shelter worthy of the name!

The setting, an essential element for bivouacking in your living room

After setting up where you are going to sleep, now is the time to tackle the decor and ambiance of your bivouac. If you have a fireplace or an insert, no particular problem, you will be able to make beautiful flames. For those who do not have this possibility, there is always Netflix! You can light a nice campfire on your TV or tablet. Finally, for those who do not have a fireplace or Netflix, let’s avoid playing arsonists! This is not the time to set the building on fire!

Then take out anything that can make a warm, softened light: small fairy lights, candles, lanterns, etc. We obviously think of the headlamp and flashlights for the activities that will follow.

Another essential step to bivouac in your living room: the background sound. Now is the time to use Youtube or Spotify to find a croaking frog, nature, bird, or river sounds. Of course, in this dream setting, there is no room for your laptop, which is resting in another room. The change of scenery is guaranteed!

A camping dinner for total immersion

Once you are well set to bivouac in your living room, you will obviously have thought of dressing in comfortable clothes. In the end, it’s nothing more than a pajama party for couples or families! Deep down, we remained big children. When all the details are sorted out, it’s time to cook dinner. The fundamentals of camping are freezing-cold beers for adults and fruit juice for the little ones.

For the remainder of your exotic bivouac, either you have a little bit of outside space that allows you to barbecue in real-time, or you adapt your recipes. Pasta in the casserole and knacks in the pan will do just fine! Of course, presentation is everything! Do not hesitate to take out the skewers and the stainless steel plates and cups. To replace the grilled marshmallows that will be difficult to make in your living room, just take out packages of all kinds of candies, and have fun!

Activities worthy of the craziest evenings under the stars

Once your tummy is full, it’s time to take care of yourself before going to sleep. We all have this friend playing guitar by the fireside! Well, if it’s not you, once again, Youtube is here to save you! You can sing songs, tell each other scary stories or more or less funny jokes. Also, pull out your favorite board games and cards. The atmosphere will be there and the laughter too. If the children are there, thanks to the flashlights, you will be able to make shadow puppets and read pretty stories.

Bivouacking in your living room is also an opportunity to do things that you don’t usually take the time to do. You can start this novel that has caught your eye for so long, but with a headlamp! Finally, keep the shutters and curtains open to wake up to daylight, just like in the middle of nature.
